The term Mineral Waters is applied to those waters which are used in the treatment of disease, either by internal administration or by external application, and which owe their virtue to their solid or gaseous constituents or to their elevated temperature. The study of the origin and composition of these waters is embraced in the science of hydrology, which may properly be regarded as a depart ment of geology and of physical geography.
