Austin Gilroy, a physiology student, is introduced by his professor to Miss Pensecola. The professor has been studying Miss Pensecola, who possesses a crippled leg and psychic powers. Miss Pensecola proves her powers by putting Gilroy’s skeptical fiancée, Agatha, into a trance. Gilroy begins to make frequent trips to the professor’s house so that she can practice her powers on him. The studies are fascinating at first, but there is a darkness to Pensecola’s powers that Gilroy doesn’t yet know.
