John Bunyan was born at Elstow, within a mile of Bedihrd. In the year i628 His descent was, as h'im selfiexpresscs it, of a 'low and inconsiderable genera tion, ' his father bein an itinerant tinker, and his mother; of the like rank. Hey gave him the best education in their power, which was common reading and writing.
