"In this book, Verner reveals important research on the rediscovery of the pyramids, . . . their meaning, and their construction. He proves to us that each pyramid has its own method of construction. He gives us a detailed account of each site and all the scholars who worked on these sites. He also provides his own interpretation of all the theories presented by the various scholars, beginning with the pyramid of Djoser and continuing to the last pyramid built by Ahmose in Abydos. . . .If you read this book you will live a great adventure, narrated by Verner, around the glorious pyramids of Egypt. This book is not written only for scholars. The public, students, and all aficionados of ancient Egypt will learn from this great body of work and from this great scholar."—Zahi Hawass, from the foreword
