“John Mark Comer has given a gift to the church. This book is prophetic, practical, and profoundly life giving. I consider this required reading.”—Jon Tyson, lead pastor of the Church of the City New York and author of The Burden Is Light

“John Mark Comer’s transparency invites us to reconsider how we live our lives by getting straight to the point: if we don’t eliminate our busyness, we just may eliminate our souls. The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry will inspire you to make the hard but practical choices that will utterly change your trajectory for the better.”—Gabe Lyons, president of Q Ideas and author of Good Faith

“Living as a spiritually and mentally healthy follower of Jesus in our technological, calendar-driven culture is, it turns out, quite difficult. In this book John Mark Comer shares his story of discovering a different way of life that’s inspired by the way and wisdom of Jesus. This is a practical, personal, and challenging call to imagine new ways that our lives can imitate Jesus.”—Tim Mackie, cofounder of the Bible Project

Good Analysis - not much Jesus

"If you're hoping for Gospel teaching, you won't find any here. Comer's book offers an insightful discussion of our cultural obsession with hurry and 'busy' - rightly pointing out the deleterious spiritual impact that these have. His hipster and frenetic writing style is appealing - but in the end, you discover more about Comer's own life than you do about biblical Christianity. He restyles Jesus as an ancient-modern day proponent of Hygge or KonMarie lifestyle, reflecting more a Jesusified philosophy of 21st century post-modern stoicism under the truism of 'what would Jesus do if he were me?"" - essentially, turning basic Christianity on it's head while trying to make his insights sound historically Christian by drawing on an eclectic association of traditional practices that can be found in any world philosophy or religion. Like the Reformation era 500 years ago, there's lots of practices to try and get your heart to peace - but practices without Jesus as Gospel anchor are just as much a distraction as the frenetic pace of life that Comer is trying to unravel. The only difference is that Comer's philosophy bends Jesus around a 'you do you' kind of worldview which is, really, no different from what's already out there in society to begin with."
