“A gorgeous, subtle novel of an unconventional friendship developed out of a strange kinship, a love for art, and a desire to hold on to the beauty of the world. In clear, elegant prose, Bendavid has written a moving tribute to the mystery of our relationships and the ways others find us and form us.”
— LIZ HARMER, author of Strange Loops and The Amateurs, a finalist for the Amazon First Novel Award

Heartwrenching novel

"This book quickly became my favourite book of 2025. The writing style was beautiful, the words flowed and melted together, his descriptions of nature and art were surreal, I felt I was in the forest and present with the art. It was fast paced in the sense the days/years flew by quick, but I didn't feel like anything was missing, I felt like I was with them for their lifetime. It was incredible to be with them and witness this unique relationship and explore their development. I truly felt I understood and could feel the love, care, and grief experienced in this book. My heart was physically aching."

One word: Amazing

"An absolutely beautiful novel. It is actually the best book I read this year. The author's special friendship with one of his teachers is rendered here in a amazing writing so lovely that it left me in awe."
