The Tortoise's Tale: A Novel

"A truly emotionally story! Brilliantly written! Beautifully descriptive! Powerfully profound!"

Lacie4Crochet (5/5)

Heart-tugging, sweet, and pensive!⁣ ⁣

"𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐄'𝐒 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐄 is a quirky, tender tale that sweeps you away and into the life of Magic, an adorable giant tortoise who spends more than a century observing and becominsg deeply attached to the people who pass through her world on a California estate. ⁣ ⁣ The prose is light yet hopeful. The characters are nuanced, authentic, and flawed. And the plot unfolds effortlessly into a moving tale about love, loss, family, kindness, loneliness, self-discovery, happiness, grief, and ultimately, life and death. ⁣ ⁣ Overall, 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐎𝐈𝐒𝐄'𝐒 𝐓𝐀𝐋𝐄 is a heartwarming, nostalgic, thought-provoking novel by Coulter that is rich with endearing characters, a touching narrative, and a gentle, insightful exploration of the invisible threads that bind us forever to those we love."

“In The Tortoise’s Tale, Kendra Coulter reminds us that the key to empathy and understanding is to walk a mile in another creature's shell. This delightful story is all the proof we need that the human world is but a small measure of the earthly kingdom, and that every animal among us has something vital to teach us, if we can learn to listen. A book to read and reread, and a welcome source of inspiration in this era of diminishing nature.”
ANDREW WESTOLL, bestselling author of The Jungle South of the Mountain
