A book about belonging and being true to yourself…
"I devoured this over maybe 26 hours. It’s enchanting and easy to read (or listen to—audiobook narrator Samara MacLaren is an immediate favourite!), but also wry and clever. For those who crave “chosen family” stories like The House in the Cerulean Sea, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches is, at its heart, about finding and surrounding yourself with people who see you for who you are and want you to be just that. It’s a bit predictable and also a pleasant surprise. The three kids and the other inhabitants of Nowhere House are both charming and chaotic, and deeply real. I’m not much of a capital-R Romance reader, and I appreciated the slow romance (and only one sex scene). Warning, there’s a fair amount of (casual) swearing. I didn’t mind it (they’re British. It fits), but I know it would be a turn off for my mum."
