Christophe André was born in Montpellier to a seafaring father and a schoolteacher mother. Hence, perhaps, his taste for pedagogy (thanks, Mom) and for depth psychology (thanks, Dad). He read Freud’s work at a very early age and decided to study medicine in order to become a psychiatrist. He practiced psychiatry and rugby for fifteen years in Toulouse. After his marriage, he moved to Paris, replacing the practice of rugby with that of writing, visits to the scrum with visits to museums, and no longer scoring tries, but publishing many. He spent the main part of his career in the Hospital–University Department of Sainte-Anne Hospital in Paris, within a Unit of Behavioral and Cognitive Psychotherapy specializing in the treatment and prevention of emotional, anxiety, and depressive disorders. He was among the first physicians to offer his patients secular meditation approaches, as early as 2004. In 2016, he was awarded the Jean Bernard Prize by the Foundation for Medical Research. His books written for the general public have enjoyed great success in France and abroad. Yet, being a perfectionist by nature, he nevertheless considers that his only true masterpieces are his three daughters… Violaine Forissier is a radiation oncologist, holds a PhD in cancer biology, and serves as Vice President of the French Society of Integrative Oncology. An integrative physician and coordinator of a transdisciplinary team, she supports individuals in their recovery following the ordeal of cancer. She advocates for a humanistic approach to medicine, working toward holistic health that is accessible to all and respectful of both healthcare ecosystems and the planet. Cloé Brami is a medical oncologist and Doctor of Psychology (ED-FIRE: Frontiers of Innovation in Research and Education), and an affiliated researcher at Université de Paris, she founded in 2023 the first French school of integrative medicine for healthcare professionals: Mû Médecine. She contributes to promoting in France an integrative culture of care that is respectful of all living beings. After completing a clinical fellowship in oncology at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital, she coordinated the Health & Care Lab at the Learning Planet Institute between 2019 and 2022, where she developed educational projects focused on embodied practices in medicine. A recipient of the Idex Covid award, she co-directed with Margaux Smirdec the documentary Medicine and Meditation: In Praise of Care?, released in 2022. She subsequently became an active member of the research group Theories and Practices of Care. Her second pedagogical documentary for Mû Médecine, entitled Re-enchanting Our Care Professions, identifies—through the proposed educational approach—eight strategic points to be taken into account for the evolution of healthcare professions. Since 2024, she has been deepening her research on the concept of vitality in health, in partnership with Université de Paris and the LaPEA laboratory, exploring this notion at the intersection of anthropology, medical sciences, and artistic practices. She adopts a definition of health as a dynamic and unstable balance, in which vitality—though subtle and intangible—constitutes a key element of both our individual and collective health.
