"Just you and him this time," I nodded. "Not me."
She grinned. "You want us to go out together, just him and me?" she said, lifting her eyes to me with a grin.
"Give him that boost," I said with a nod. "He likes you."
"I wouldn't feel comfortable," she said. "How far are you expecting me to take things?" she said. "What kind of date do you have in mind?"
"You don't have to worry about that," I said. "I'll be hiding in the laundry room. I'll be watching."
"So you'll stop us?" she said.
"You let him take things as far as he wants to take them — I want him to feel bold and confident again, and that's the only way."
"What if he takes it too far?" she said. She bit her lip and ducked her face down and looked up through the tops of her eyes and through strands of her hair.
