My name is Debra Paulsen, I am a Libra, a baby boomer, an empty nester, and an animal lover, a mother and a grandmother. I am also compassionate as well as Passionate about what I believe in... and I am a stage IV Cancer survivor. I have always been a very outspoken advocate for common sense and decency, and I firmly believe the pen (or the keyboard as the case may be) truly is mightier than the sword. I am also an active outspoken voice through blogging, social media outlets, and as a regular contributor, and featured writer for The old Yahoo News Network. I relocated from Connecticut to Georgia in 1998, during my life before cancer, where I became the Children's Librarian at our Public Library and soon became a fixture in the community, attending meetings, participating in events, and through interaction with local organizations, such as trips to The Salvation Army's soup kitchen in Lagrange to drop off our extra eggs and garden produce, hosting numerous swimming, horseback riding and agricultural focused "fun days" here at our little hobby farm for the enjoyment of children of West End Youth Center in Hogansville, and teenagers from Pathways Counseling Services in nearby Greenville. I stayed active in my community until Life with cancer slowed me down. I was diagnosed with stage IVB throat cancer in 2009, and my voice was temporarily silenced, but I have entered Life Beyond Cancer, with the same Heart, positive attitude, and determination that has carried me along thus far. What began as a dream many, many years ago, will now be my reality; in my Life beyond cancer I will be a respected, recognized and published author. More importantly I hope I will help a few others become survivors along the way: )
