Essex County is 14 when Vida Boheme dies, leaving him with what should've been just temporary friends. Having spent the last ten years with Vida, traveling like nomads from state to state; Essex is left feeling lost and alone in the wake of losing the mysterious but extremely loving woman who took him in and gave him a life he could only dream of.

As Essex struggles to adjust to his new stationary home, bits and pieces of who Vida really was come to light from things she left behind for him and from old faces in Vida's past; leaving Essex to wonder if Vida Boheme was really the woman he called his mother and what really happened that fateful August day.
