Martin J. Bollinger is a retired management consultant who spent thirty years advising senior executives of the aerospace, defense, and maritime industries on issues of business and corporate strategy. Mr. Bollinger has been writing on topics related to maritime history for over two decades. While searching for a new project, he stumbled upon Claiborne’s largely forgotten heritage as a major regional transportation hub, which was the inspiration for When Claiborne Bridged the Chesapeake: The Rise and Fall of the Ferry Era. Other books by the author: From the Revolution to the Cold War: The Soviet Merchant Fleet 1917 to 1950 Warriors & Wizards: The Development and Defeat of Radio-Controlled Glide Bombs of the Third Reich Stalin’s Slave Ships: Kolyma, the Gulag Fleet, and the Role of the West (which was translated into Polish and republished by Axis Press, 2011. Translated into French and republished by Éditions Babouji MDV Maîtres du Vent, 2013).
