With this narrative autobiographical work, author Beryl Botman yells the story of a love journey between a man and a woman over a period of twenty-five years. She frames the narrative through the eighteen-month periods at the beginning and end of her relationship and marriage to Russel Botman. In dialogue with her great-grandmother, she contrasts the joys and sorrows of these two moments in time. She recounts among other things, their first road trip and their final overseas journey, engagement and wedding, celebrations and threats, as well as births and deaths.
