A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER!

A New York Public Library Best Book of the Year

"Power's evocative, haunting, and occasionally gruesome debut will challenge readers to ignore its bewitching presence." Booklist, starred review

★ "This gritty, lush debut chronicling psychological and environmental tipping points...weaves a chilling narrative that disrupts readers' expectations through an expertly crafted, slow-burn reveal of the deadly consequences of climate change....Part survival thriller, part post-apocalyptic romance, and part ecocritical feminist manifesto, a staggering gut punch of a book." Kirkus Reviews, starred review

"An ode to empowering women and a testament to the strength of female bonds....Far more than just an unsettling horror story, this powerful debut novel about a strange disease at an all-girls boarding school explores female empowerment, friendship and survival with tenacity and brilliance." Shelf Awareness, starred review

Electric prose, compelling relationships, and visceral horror illuminate Power’s incisive debut...[and  its] environmental and feminist themes are resonant, particularly the immeasurable costs of experimentation on female bodies, and the power of female solidarity and resilience amid ecological and political turmoil.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review

"Tightly coiled narration moves between quietly reserved to vividly but coldly detailed, doubling the horror." Bulletin

"Your new favorite book.Cosmopolitan

“Everything about this thrilling, unnerving debut will make you want to immediately read it. For fans of Mindy McGinnis and Gillian French.” —Paste

Wilder Girls is so sharp and packs so much emotion in such wise ways. I’m convinced we’re about to witness the emergence of a major new literary star.” —Jeff VanderMeer, author of the New York Times bestseller Annihilation

"Wilder Girls is the bold, imaginative, emotionally wrenching horror novel of my dreams—one that celebrates the resilience of girls and the earthshaking power of their friendships. An eerie, unforgettable triumph." —Claire Legrand, New York Times bestselling author of Furyborn

A nightmarish survival story that’s as much literary fiction as it is young adult...I couldn’t look away." Casey McQuiston, New York Times bestselling author of Red, White, and Royal Blue

"The eeriness of Raxter Island permeates every scene, and Rory Power's characters are fierce and honest, blazing from the pages. This is a groundbreaking speculative story—brutal and beautiful, raw and unflinching. I adored this book." —Emily Suvada, author of This Mortal Coil

"A feminist, LGBT+, sci-fi-horror story with all the tantalizing elements of gore, mystery, war, and love you can ask for. Real, flawed, brave girls against a world gone mad. A shudderingly good read!” —Dawn Kurtagich, author of Teeth in the Mist

YA dystopia

"I loved this book! The teenagers feel like real teenagers, the plot is so intriguing and the story was overall so captivating I couldn't stop reading to know what would happen."

❤️I LOVED THIS BOOK❤️

"I really enjoyed the book because it was kind of relatable in a way. I can’t describe how, but I felt connected to the characters."

Alexis (5/5)

Loved it!

"I loved it, wasn’t too sure going into it but the ending is leaving me wanting more!! I went to an all girls school and it reminds me of the hierarchy we insisted on respecting even for 12-17 year olds. Couldn’t put it down, I needed to know what happened next :D"

Gabbie (4/5)

Meh

"Overall it was okay but personally I felt that the chapters were too long with not a lot of information and it just felt a little bit hard to follow. I would recommend it for people who like slower pacing books"

Ollie (3/5)

Wonderful Book!

"Wonderful book with great representation and characters. I loved the horror aspect mixed with a sense of fantasy. Overall a very original and interesting book! Only drawback was the very open ending."

"I tried so hard to life this book! But the writing was absolutely terrible. It would get good and then fall apart again the next chapter. My worst read to date!"

Sarah (1/5)

One of my favorite books!

"I just got my hands on this book last week and read it in a few days. The plot is fast moving and captured my attention from the beginning. I had heard good things but didn't hold high expectations for it after reading the synopsis as it is not a book I would typically pick up. However, I am very glad I did because this is definitely on my list of favorites. I am hoping for a second book in the future as I felt it ended with so much more to still unfold. The story of friendship and love that comes from this story is the main reason I loved it so much. I didn't care for the character of Reese at the beginning but as I continued further I grew to really love her. All three characters Byatt, Reese and Hetty are amazing characters and I hope to hear more about them in the future from Rory. 5/5 Would definitely recommend ."

good but couldve been better

"First off, cast of strong female characters and wlw storyline? Chefs Kiss! But, I found the actually story especially in the later chapters kind of fell off, because I feel like ther could've been a much more elaborate explaination for the tox, like basically a weirdly boring situation. The ending felt underwhelming and unresolved . Was scary and entertaining, but not one of those wow books. Still good though I would maybe reccomend but not my fav"

Merida (3/5)

Could not stop reading!

"I took this book camping and read out loud to my friends and had everyone invested. This book had me gasping and holding my hand over my mouth from shock. The suspense never ends and it's amazing. Just when you think things are calming down, they escalate further!"

Hazel (5/5)

A novel every adolescent girl needs to read!

"I bought this book a few months ago, and finished it within a frame of a month or two (that was with me being distracting by school though). Overall I would rate this a 4/5 stars as it had a pretty good plot, realistic characters, and I loved how the author described EVERYTHING in this novel. It really felt as if you, as the reader are there watching it all happen. I also loved how she not only showed the physical strength in the wonderful female characters but also acknowledged their emotional and mental strength. One thing that I didn't quite like about this book was that some parts were more interesting than others. I found myself sometimes skipping a few pages as I found some material was unnecessary to the actually plot itself, or in my opinion some parts were just running on that could've easily been summed up. But of course this is just my opinion, and I'm one of those reader that likes to have the anticipation built up throughout the whole book instead of just certain chapters. BUT overall I would say this is a novel that should be read by everyone! It truly has a interesting plot, and this should be the book read in classrooms other than Lord Of The Flies."
