Fantastic!

"I used this book last year to talk about developing a growth mindset within my classroom and it was used for paragraph writing as well. It's a fun book that is also an educational one for Primary classes - great for Language, Health or Science classes! The pictures and animal characters are cute. My students enjoyed reading about how our brains help us to learn and there are a lot of fun facts in this book. Such a great find!"

Great for Teaching

"I bought this book for my grade 6 class and although it is definitely suited towards a bit younger I'm really happy with the content and will definitely be using it. I love the clear and scientific approach with great images and funny captions."

Growth Mindset for Kids

"Beautifully illustrated explanation of the human brain. My students were completely engaged. Inspired such deep classroom dialogue about our ability to cultivate a growth mindset."

GROWTH MINDSET for children; Review of book - as an APP

"We have had this book for three years as an app on our ipad. It is excellent. I use the theory with my grade 12 chemistry students, and the book directly with my four year old and seven year old. The seven year old has ""read"" it (the app does the reading) repeatedly, by choice, and uses the language when we are dealing with difficulty. I invite them to watch it when I know they are feeling frustrated with a new skill and they always feel refreshed to try again. For example, I use his past growth (like the fear and difficulty of learning to ride a bike, and how essential it was to go fast to learn) to help him when he is having difficulty with spelling and afraid of his spelling test. We also review the bad tests as a positive opportunity to talk about how to help neurosculpt in the future. We rarely read the entire book in its entirety anymore, the app is much slower to turn pages. :) I would recommend this book in the book form for PARENTS and children to read together 4 - 13, and as something children might read alone from 10+, but still most powerful if read (at least at the beginning) with a parent. In the classroom my school uses it for JK - Gr. 4 and the language about ""STRRREEEEEEETCHING"" your brain up to grade 6 (after which the students move buildings and adults just don't know about it). As a teacher, I use the theory, words and skills related to Mindset from using this book while working with my seven year old to help those students who've become frustrated and discouraged and have given up on trying. It works wonders. I actually have used HIS bike example (but made it sound like HER experience) to help senior students on more than one occasion."

Sarah Ackerley grew up in Waxahachie, TX in a family of seven children. She always loved to draw, and can remember trading artwork for pencils and snacks as an elementary school student. Sarah went on to study art at the University of Texas at Austin, and then published the first of five successful children's books in 2008. Her love of travel and a desire to spend time in another part of the world led Sarah to move to Kenya for a year in 2014, where she traveled and painted muralsin rural community schools.
