Melissa is an ordinary girl who has just finished school and started a new life in college. Her childhood wasn’t easy: her mother divorced her father and remarried a man with whom Melissa never built a trusting relationship. To make things worse, she was betrayed by her best friend — an experience that left her feeling abandoned and alone.
However, in her new environment, she slowly finds support: she befriends an open and kind girl who becomes a true friend, and meets a guy who shows genuine affection for her. Another close friend enters her life as well — someone with whom she shares her deepest thoughts.
Amid these positive changes, strange things begin to happen: anonymous messages, suspicious glances, and repeated encounters with a stranger who seems to appear wherever she goes. Fear grows, but Melissa doesn’t immediately open up to her friends. Gradually, it becomes clear that she is indeed being followed — by one of her new acquaintances, who turns out to be someone very different from who he claimed to be.
The story reaches its climax when news breaks that this stalker has been found dead. It turns out he was involved with drugs and was killed by dealers. For Melissa, this is a horrifying yet final end to the threat.
The novel ends on a hopeful and uplifting note: she learns to trust again, builds genuine relationships, and finds inner strength. Her life transforms, and with it, she grows “wings” — a symbol of hope, love, and fear overcome.
