A gift for a new home

"I have recently joined the Native Gardening movement and have purchased the book A Garden for the Rusty Patched Bumblebee for my niece who just got married and they are moving in to a newly built home with a clean slate for a garden. She is lovely and does everything she can to help the environment. I trust she will find loads of valuable information for her path forward."

Great local book by regional author

"This is a great reference book for building up your garden and yard with native plants. It is pretty comprehensive and includes a very wide range of plants, bushes, trees and grasses. The organization between sun versus shade and blooming time is also helpful in helping you plan groupings."

A must-have reference for the eco-conscious gardener in the Great Lakes region

"Tremendously informative yet unbloated and to-the-point, clear descriptions complete with helpful imagery and gorgeous illustrations. Highly recommended for anyone who plants anything in the ground in the Ontario/Great Lakes region, as well as anyone else who just wants to learn about native flora. I'd love to see this series expand to someday cover other regions as well."

Excellent resource for those who use their garden to make a difference.

"This book is an excellent resource for creating pollinator gardens, for not just the Rusty Patched Bumblebee, but others native bees too. Johnson & Colla cover many different plant species and provides advice on what to plant where. This is a book for beginners (includes planting plans) and experienced gardeners."

Helen S. (5/5)

Geographically relevant and beautifully illustrated.

"Having a gardening book that pertains to a specific location is always important, when you want your garden to be as native and natural as possible is essential. This book has advice to do just that no matter what size garden you are growing - from large scale gardens right down to balcony gardens. The illustrations make just thumbing through the book a delight!"

Laura R. (5/5)

I found the title hard to remember and does not generate immediate interest - boring.

"I found this text rather dull - it needs spicing up to create interest."

Margaret (1/5)

Title is just perfect! Has the content message so nailed!

"A Garden For The Rusty-Patched Bumblebee should be a compulsory read for all - starting within our early childhood education as the text is easy to read, very informative and written with wonderful entertainment knowledge. To think that in our great city of Toronto, The Rusty-Patched Bumblebee was spotted by one of the authors, Sheila Colla! Well done! Very encouraging."

You’ll get a primer on pollinators and learn why native plants matter. They’ll walk you through the simple steps of turning lawns into gardens or an existing garden into a pollinator paradise.
