Beautiful

"I was transported along with the characters to the beach, searching for butterflies and taking in the beauty of nature and of the search. Lovely writing and moody pictures transported me as a reader."

Fun and delightful!

"Who knew the hunt for a butterfly could be so full of suprises? Follow along on this twisty-turny hunt full of enounters with pirates and sharks (are you supposed hunt butterflies at sea?), learn a little about how to navigate its obstacles and then cheer with delight - there really are butterflies at sea - or are there? No spoilers here - you'll just have to read it yourself!"

Jen S. (5/5)

A gentle picture book with a beautiful message for

"""If you want to see a butterfly, or maybe a sea of butterflies. . . "" Thus begins this sweet, nature-based picture book by Cynthia Mackey. Accompanied by beautiful illustrations by Marie-Laure Couët, the story follows a young photographer who sets out to take pictures of butterflies but is soon forced to change her plans when she finds out she's being followed by her little sister. This picture book is all about embracing life's interruptions—an excellent reminder for readers of all ages."

Jengel (5/5)

Beautiful, enchanting story

"This beautiful, layered story is a treat for the senses. Its soft, lyrical rhythm and gorgeous illustrations draw the reader in and invite them along for the adventures and discoveries it holds. A gentle ode to patience and embracing change, it is a must-read."

KC21 (5/5)

Beautifully Written and Illustrated Lyrical Story

"If IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE was a lyrical story of patience, sibling cahoots, and observing all nature's little treasures, you've got BUTTERFLY SEA. This book is beautifully written and illustrated. This would be an amazing read for winding down for bedtime or to encourage littles (and their bigs) to practice observation, patience with themselves, nature, and whatever mermaid, shark, or pirate arrives to interrupt. From a review copy."
