Not really for me

"I wanted to read a quick book to give in our romance book swap at bookclub and we had a jockey theme so figured this one would fit great. I wasn’t sure what to expect I did buy it a few years ago because I thought it looked cute and I am also Canadian. I do enjoy a fake dating trope. This read was just fine. I read it quick (2 hours) so pacing was fine there was just something off for me. Like it read a bit juvenile. I did like the edition of the letters and also the text in the present day timeline. I didn’t really get the chemistry between our characters. I liked Olivia. Also not that I need smut but this was a it of talk and now show like closed door I’d say which was a bit boring for me this go around. I didn’t know if I’d recommend this one."

Canadian romance

"I adored this book ! As a Canadian, I thoroughly enjoyed all the references and had a few good chuckles over them. I also loved that while this was a romance, it dealt with heavy topics and had an emotional depth. I was completely invested in both MCs and their individual & combined journeys. And I loved the ending - I couldn't stop a big smile from spreading over my face on the last pages ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"

Who doesn't want a Canadian Hokey player Boyfriend?

"Book showing, that imagination and manifesting makes your dreams come true. I'd say the book is written for older readers, however the story is keeping you wanting read more and find out what's going to happen next ASAP. You just can't stop reading!"

Such a Fun Read!

"4. 5 stars This was such a fun and swoon worthy romance read! I wouldn't say it necessarily is targeted at any specific season but I would say that I considered it the perfect read for the winter months. Maybe because of the association with hockey? I don't know if this book would have hit the same if I had read it in the summer for some reason. Either way, seasonal debate aside, I really enjoyed this read. Both in audio and physical format. I started this book by listening to the audiobook which includes the lovely Joshua Jackson (Pacey anyone?) but then found I also wanted to read it physically. You know it's a good book when you can't choose which format to read because you are enjoying the experience of both! I'm biased here but I LOVED all the Canadian stereotypes and tidbits (or Timbits?) thrown in. From the acknowledgment of our constant apologizing to igloos and our holy grail Tim Hortons. I felt like I was experiencing a story in a setting that I know and live in and I LOVED that. It's not often that I get to feel that way. In that vein, if you have any contemporary/romance novels set in Canada that you recommend, please let me know. I really loved everything about this book from the characters to the writing. The one and only thing that I had issue with is the revelation nearing the end but in all honesty, I don't know how or if it could have been handled any differently. It's something though that distinguishably made this book evident that it was fiction. I just had to look past the reality of that circumstance. I'm really looking forward to Gretchen's story and all that Jenny Holiday has to offer in the future!"

Cute rom-com with some depth

"This is a cute story, with all the elements necessary for sighing and daydreaming about your perfect (Canadian hockey) guy. The upshot for me was that there was more depth than a typical beach-read romantic comedy, in the back-stories for the main characters and how they deal with those in the book's present day. If I didn't already have my own Canadian defenceman, I'd be tempted to go find one after reading this."

Honestly, it’s what drew me to want to read the book.

Slow but good!

"It was a slow burn, and the ending nearly killed me but I loved it! Only problem was that I’m not totally into slow burns"

Sophie (4/5)

Funny parts, a decent rom-com book.

"I loved this book, but wanted more from the end. It was a decent read, I needed more though."
