Reviews

Canadian author writes mystery novels

"Iona Whishaw writes an interesting series of mystery novels. The setting is British Columbia. The twists and turns are intriguing as the murder is solved. Easy and well worth the time enjoying the characters"

Super S. (5/5)

Cozy Mystery

"I LOVED this book. The mystery was so good and I love these characters. The mystery is slow but I am hooked the whole time. So enjoyable. New favourite series for sure"

Alo J. (5/5)

Death Darkening Mist is a well written, purely wonderful read!

"This is the second of a series of books which just get better with each addition! The unusual setting of a northern rustic base near Nelson, BC is the main character Lane Winslow’s refuge after the Second World War. It is where this smart, endearing young woman develops deeper friendships, a warming of a romantic interest and is a great help in solving a murder. I like the setting but I am glad the settings go much farther afield in following books. I appreciate the strength of her compassion, her intellect and the descriptions of the supporting characters which makes them come alive."

Elaine (5/5)

A Fantastic Book!

"If you’re looking for a cozy read, with lovable characters, a puzzling mystery and a side of romance, this book is a must! Truly could not put this book down and have since bought all the books in the series."

Ally (5/5)

Praise for Death in a Darkening Mist (#2)

An April 2017 Lone Star Top 10 Pick

"The late L.R. Wright’s marvellous mysteries set on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast remain some of my favourite Canadian books. But this second novel by Iona Whishaw, also set in B.C., is every bit as good . . . [an] excellent chapter in what appears to be a terrific series." —Globe and Mail

"This series cleverly combines both elements of a cozy and a spy thriller, with a heroine who is tough and independent, but harboring secrets of her own." —Reviewing the Evidence

"An absolute winner [that] moves the notch up several levels when it comes to mystery writing with a historical twinge. The highlight of the writing is the seamless blend of the sense of place into the story line." —Don Graves, Canadian Mystery Reviews
