Ronald G. Butler is an animal ecologist and Emeritus Professor of Biology at the University of Maine at Farmington. He is coauthor of Butterflies of Maine and the Canadian Maritime Provinces.

Donald F. McAlpine is a zoologist and Curator Emeritus at the New Brunswick Museum. He is the senior editor of, and a contributor to, the National Research Council Press volume Assessment of Species Diversity in the Atlantic Maritime Ecozone.

Paul-Michael Brunelle was a professional graphic design artist and a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. He was a largely self-taught expert odontologist who became one of the Northeast's leading authorities on the order.
