Unpredictable, Moving, and Beautifully Told

"I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. From the very first page, it drew me in and held my attention until the very last word. The plot was engaging and unpredictable, I truly never knew what would happen next, which kept me eagerly turning the pages and on the edge of my seat throughout. What surprised me most, however, was how deeply I connected with the story on a personal level. As an Asian immigrant, I found myself relating to several of the characters in ways I did not expect. Their experiences, struggles, and emotions resonated with me, making the story feel even more meaningful. Beyond the storyline, the writing itself is beautiful. This is a book that entertains, moves, and inspires reflection. I cannot recommend it highly enough."

Great Story on Multiple Levels

"Oxford Soju Club was thoroughly enjoyable on multiple levels. As a fellow Korean born in a Western country, the book’s exploration of self-identity felt authentic and surprisingly relatable from the perspectives of multiple characters. The author did a great job building the background into each character, and I found myself rooting for most, including members from the North Korean regime. I also thought the author’s descriptive storytelling brought even the smallest details to life, like a quiet scene between two characters cooking and sharing instant ramen. Lastly, purely as a spy thriller, the book more than delivers. While the story begins at a measured pace, it quickly accelerates with unexpected plot twists that culminate into a gripping, emotional finale. My only critique is that I wished it had been longer, as I finished the book within a couple of days. Overall, I highly recommend Oxford Soju Club not only to spy novel fans, but especially to anyone who has experienced the challenges of growing up in a place different from their original ethnic or cultural background."
