A really beautiful love story

"I am usually not a friends to lovers kind of girl, nor do I like second-chance romances, but this book was such a beautiful love story, I might have to change my mind on those two tropes! Promise Me is the second book in the Sinful Manor series, where we follow Declan and Collin's story. Even though the book technically only spans over 7 days, we get such a perfect slow burn between two best friends, wrapped up in comfort and yearning, pining and pain, love and loss, and grief and growth. ""If I was the moon, he was the tides—in sync beyond reason. Connected in ways neither of us understood. He altered the chemistry of my brain, and no one would ever be as attractive to me after him. "" I really enjoyed the way that the book was written and how we time-jumped between the past and present. It was really well paced and perfectly executed in a way that, even though you ultimately knew how it would end, the countdown until the wedding made it thrilling to read and see how the events unfolded. As for what’s coming next, Sara always gives us tiny hints for the following books, and now I really can’t wait for the last two siblings' stories!  Thank you Sara for the ARC!"

"It’s been seven years. I wish I could say I’ve moved on, but Colin never truly left me. We were best friends once, the kind who knew each other inside and out, the kind that felt unbreakable. Between Colin’s heartache in the past and Declan’s in the present, the emotions rolled off the pages in waves and completely swept me under. Watching these timelines slowly converge, their connection becoming clearer, was overwhelming. The tension built until it felt inevitable that one of them would break, and break they did, just how we like it. Declan has a trauma-filled past that has his heart locked tight. He does not want to let anyone in. He cannot afford to. Losing his parents at an impressionable age left scars he refuses to reopen. His fear of losing love makes falling impossible in his stubborn head. So he plays a role: playful and charismatic, an easygoing artist. It is safer that way. A loyal best friend, that he can handle. So that is what he gives. But Colin, Colin snuck into the cracks. He slid into Declan’s head and heart softly, over time, and before Declan knew it, he was gone. And still, Declan fought it. Full of fear, convinced he was not worthy of this perfect, impressionable boy. But he was selfish, too. He wanted Colin, taking him, protecting him, giving him a voice, helping him find the submissive role he so desperately desired. Colin, in turn, was desperate to escape his rigid home life, and college was his way out. Having Declan as a roommate, he fell hard and fast. Colin’s beauty and innocence were raw, uncomfortable, and perfect. He wanted Declan. He trusted him completely and gave himself over, seeking whatever Declan was willing to give until it was no longer enough. This book was glorious and heartbreaking. It’s playful and frustrating. It’s sweet and easy, yet so painfully hard. Within a few pages, I swung from heat-filled elation to tears. It was perfect. It was everything, absolutely everything."
