Quirky characters, real life situations.

"I loved this book and so want to read more about the characters lives."

Deeply Absorbing

"I found this novel deeply absorbing. I couldn't put it down. A woman (Cherry Lockwood) on a flight seems to be in a trance as she walks down the aisle pointing at each passenger and stating how and when they will die. This is terrifying to some passengers, especially those who are told they, or their children, will die soon. Later, Cherry has no memory of having done this, and it seems like the entire incident will be forgotten, until three people die as and when predicted. Social media spreads the word and people begin to panic. The novel follows several passengers, including Cherry, as the media frenzy continues; and the reader is wondering if they will die as predicted or somehow avoid their ""fate"". Obviously the novel raises thoughts of what you would do if you knew your life span, but it does so in a thought-provoking way, and not simplistically. We see people avoiding medical diagnoses or refusing treatment. People changing their behaviour -- or not -- based on what they were told, and/or because they don't believe in psychics. There are loved ones who are more, or less, concerned about the prediction than the person who received it. There is an underlying debate of free will vs determinism. So, so well done."

Won’t be making it to my bookshelf

"Really lame book. The story is boring, the characters lack depth. The synopsis makes it sound like the novel will be funny and engaging but the book is neither. After googling the author I wasn’t surprised to learn she is a children’s author."

So good! and Canadian!

"Thank you Indigo for putting this one in the summer read list! I loved this one and the fact that it was set in Vancouver. Fun, light but also with some serious themes. I loved the friendship that came out of the characters."

Snap - razor sharp in all ways!

"This was definitely a great read. I loved it all - the writing style, the humour, and the city references that made me feel as if I were actually part of the story. I look forward to more adult novels by this author!!"

I saw this on

"I saw this on an Indigo ad and and the premise sounded intriguing. I definitely wasn't disappointed. This book was everything you want in a story. Great novel."
