"This would be about the 3rd book I have read by this author. While my Indigo experiences have been great, this book left me comparing it to the last one. In fact I had to check to make sure I hadn't already read this book."

The Book of Witching
"Loved this book. The back and forth between modern times and 1594 were a fun element that helped with the frustration I always find when reading about witch trials. My poor husband has to listen to me yelling at the people in the book."

Ok
"It was an enjoyable enough read, but it didn't really seem to connect the two halves of the story very well."

Atmospheric and chilling myserty of witch trials
"Book review: 4. 5/5 ⭐️ Genre: historical fiction, mystery, magical realism Themes: witch trials, motherhood, rebellion 📖 Read if you like: Weyward, Ten Thousand Doors of January, The Midnight Bargain This story made me want to rage, but I mean this in the best possible way. Mad at all the ways that women have been vilified, blamed, and made to pay the price for men beyond retribution from past to present. Witch hunts in dual timelines, connected by a black book older than time, this one had me turning pages waiting for the mystery to unfold and the connecting pieces to slot into place. Part historical fiction, part mystery, part fantasy this was one genre melding narrative full of dark intent and the power of a mother’s love. Four hundred years apart, Clem and Alison are mysteriously connected. In 2024 Clem discovers her daughter Erin has been horrifically burned after a mysterious turn of events in Fynhallow Bay, Orkney that see one friend dead and another missing. As Clem tries to unravel what happened on that beach her daughter wakes up and recalls only one thing - her name is Nix. With an alternate personality and a criminal investigation underway, Clem races to save her daughter and understand how this fateful fire started. In parallel, Alison Balfour is accused of witchcraft in 1594 Orkney. After refusing to assist a powerful man with his treasonous plans, Alison is put in an impossible situation after being nonetheless accused of the crime. With corruption running rampant in the court, and political players using this precedence to stifle a growing rebellion in the area, Alison’s trials is about more than just her alleged crime. This book was horrifyingly magnificent with a gothic air of magic. Allison’s story in particular was so richly detailed and atmospheric as to transport readers to this time of judgement and fear. With the oppression of women and freedom in the balance, hers is a story that will have your blood boiling. As the bodies drop, the fear and anticipation rises. On the flip side, I was desperate to unravel Erin’s story and the mystery on the beach. While a modern perspective, Erin is likewise vilified and blamed despite being a victim. Two women facing horrifying situations, and one book of magic connecting them. This was a truly unique and absorbing play on witch trials past and present. I simply could not stop reading!"

Great Spooky Read
"Only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is that at certain points the storyline did seem a little rushed. But overall it was a great book to curl up with on Halloween"

Great mythology
"Very interesting mythology showing some of the lesser known as well as more popular mythical beings."
