A Favourite Sanderson’s Story

"An intriguing character, a fantastic magic system and a wonderful story, I love The Emperor’s Soul. It is set in the same world as Elantris, but reading that novel is not required to read this. The connections are only apparent if you’ve read Elantris. _x000D_ _x000D_ I read this book years ago and just reread it recently. The story is not only great to immerse yourself in, but it is also the kind of story your mind can dwell on. It is every bit as good as I remember it being. I highly recommend it."

Amazing Ending

"This was my first every foray into Brandon Sanderson, and it did not disappoint! The story was exciting, the characters great, and now I see why Sanderson is beloved for his imagination into world-building and magic systems. Shai is a great character. Smart, resourceful, but with a big heart, I thought she was an excellent main character. Her interactions with others, especially Gaotana, were well written and engaging. Their conversations were among my favourite moments. I absolutely love the world and the magic system. It was explained clearly so that when the exciting ending came, I knew exactly how Shai could do the things she could do. This is one of Sanderson’s shorter books, but the plot never felt rushed or uneven. And the ending? Wow. What a ending it was. Absolutely perfect for the story and I could not have asked for a better one. Now that I’ve had my first taste of Sanderson’s work, I am hungry for more. Recommended to all of his new fans, and lovers of complex fantasy worlds."

"I loved this book. The principles of how ""forging"" work - especially as she re-built the Emperor's soul -- mirror the way the brain works and how an unique Person emerges from the gradual building up of memories and emotions and relationships. Brilliant."
