Discover the many origins of Halloween through a child’s eyes

"As an adult I enjoyed the history lesson, and the good hearted, quirky dialogue of Moundshroud throughout this story. The dialogue of the boys felt a bit old fashioned and got a little tedious for me… but my oh my does Bradbury know how to deliver a visceral movie-like experience. I truly felt like I was along for the ride. Appreciated the reverence shown towards Halloween themes such as death, changing of seasons and day turning into night. Another great light read for Halloween lovers."

The Halloween Tree

"Great story but the size of the book, even brand new, is not worth the price"

Perfect fall classic for kids

"Children classic looking forward to reading with my kids this fall"

JLynn (5/5)

Très intriguant

"Facile a lire et très intriguant. Un pages turner comme on dit."

Alex (5/5)

Slightly boring

"Bit slow at times although it is a quick read. Still has the spooky factor and worth a read"

All things Bradbury

"Fantastic book, love the story of the origins of Halloween. Wish he had done one for Christmas as well ;)"

Moth (5/5)

Decent

"Probably my least favourite book by Ray Bradbury, a bit boring at times. #plumreview"

Great educational book for young readers

"While I like the movie more, the book does provide a few more historical lessons on the history of Halloween than the movie. Bit odd that Bradbury not only chose to make his original story about 8 boys, but in the beginning stressed it was mostly boys in the town, but it was written a long time ago. Aside from that, it's a great story for the kids."

Love Ray Bradbury

"This is a short book, thank goodness, because I couldn't put it down. Don't know how I missed reading this gem up to now, but glad I have now experienced this tale of Halloween Night."

Interesting ideas but the writing style is too awkward

"The descriptions—often silly with gibberish-like words simply strung together—stopped me from trying or caring to fully imagine what he was attempting to describe and left me in eye rolling anticipation and hope for the end of the story to arrive. If based solely on the clever integration of historical concepts and content independent of the writing style then I would give a 4 star rating. But, the book as a whole, I can only give 2."
