What is wrong with me?

"“What's wrong with me ? " Has this question been plaguing you lately ? Are you a female over the age of 35? Check and check. . . Mary Claire Haver's comprehensive guide to understanding perimenopause, put together so many pieces of the puzzle for me. It serves as a tool to empower women to be their own health advocates when they are often dismissed by medical professionals when presenting their symptoms. In our teens we are prepped and educated about what will happen to our bodies as we enter puberty, but the same can't be said of being aware of what happens to women's bodies as our reproductive years come to a close. Dr. Haver is a master in this field, proven by the extensive research that's been done in writing this book. It is comprehensive, detailed, insightful and most of all easy to understand. I particularly welcomed the reality that perimenopause should not only be viewed in relation to reproduction, but rather as a "whole body" phenomenon. It should be treated as a multi-disciplinary approach and address the interconnectedness of issues that range from brain health and nutrition, to emotional regulation and sleep habits. At times I did find explanations repetitive, but done to most likely keep summarizing the core facts. It's clear that Dr. Haver also strongly supports HRT as a solution to treat many of the issues but appreciated that alternate treatment options and reasons were also discussed. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. - Lydia"

As a caretaker for my grandmother and mother, I bore witness to the devastation women and their families experience due to the lack of real science and options supporting our health. This all changed when I discovered Mary Claire Haver’s work. Today, I’m a proud member of the growing ‘get smart and strong’ generation.
