"I purchased The Tale of Peter Rabbit as a present for my great grandson to accompany a mug and bowl I purchased at Hill Top Farm in the Lake District of England. Along with the book I also purchased a Peter Rabbit stuffy with tactile paws. All these will be a Christmas gift for my first great grandson. I love Beatrix Potter's illustrations. Her compassion for wildlife around Hill Top Farm enabled beautiful emotive, personified, lifelike characters, still lifelike and heartwarming years later. I wish she could be celebrated in a wider, more recognized fashion to enable a higher level of appreciation for her artwork and character development."

Beatrix Potter is one of the world's best-loved children's authors of all time. From her first book, The Tale of Peter Rabbit (1902) she went on to create a series of stories based around animal characters including Mrs Tiggy-winkle, Mr Jeremy Fisher and Tom Kitten. Her humorous, lively tales and beautiful illustrations have become a natural part of childhood.

A source of inspiration was the Lake District where she lived for the last thirty years of her life as a farmer and conservationist.
