"Revealing and brave, this is a well-written memoir from an actor who’s been to hell and back." —Kirkus Reviews

Bloodlines is the story of one man’s harrowing journey from near death back to life. A popular Hollywood actor, vaunted body builder and former athlete, Joe Manganiello is stricken with a mysterious illness that turns his world upside down. As you follow his epic journey, you will discover one man’s tenacity, resourcefulness, and creative imagination. You will be astonished at how he can hold himself together as he keeps his career as an actor going. As he probes his past —both personal and ancestral—he discovers the harsh realities of family and historical trauma. His maternal great grandmother’s extraordinary Armenian Genocide survivor experience becomes a source of pain, truth-reckoning, and spiritual awakening through which he learns how to survive his own trials and tribulations, heal himself, and create a new, life full of love and spiritual meaning. An astonishing story of courage and spiritual resilience. —Peter Balakian, Pulitzer Prize winning author of Ozone Journal
