Reviews

unexpected, pleasant surprise

"not what i expected, tho thoroughly enjoyed it. i thought there would be more science, and some is referenced. as an experience and journey it was excellent. recommended for anyone who has trouble adjusting/coping. especially those of us in colder climates. i borrowed from the library in the past, bought a copy for myself this january."

Beautiful Metaphor

"This is the most beautifully written metaphor for the difficult seasons in life. I regularly refer back to quotes from this book, and I have purchased many copies for friends going through challenging times. Highly recommend!"

Kimberley (5/5)

Lisa

"I was looking forward to this book and did enjoy it. Nit as much as I expected though."

Lisa (5/5)

Honest and Relatable

"I like how Katherine shares her own story of having to slow down and make changes in life. The examples given in nature was also great. This book was honest and relatable."

Wintering: Katherine May - At any time of the year

"This is a slow and contemplative read. Katherine May opens up and explores many areas of our mental down-turn states through personal and researched storytelling. If you read this book on your own, or if you read this book in a group (recommended), do it slowly with pen and paper to write down your own personal responses to May's personal path through wintering. This is not a ""how to"" or ""fix it"" book. Take away what speaks to you. It may help you understand where you are and what you are going through. How you move forward is up to you."

Alison B. (4/5)

Excellent

"I loved it. Really good read about taking time for one’s self."

Indigomagnolia (5/5)

Not as advertised

"This is a memoir of a depressed person with privilege. She travels to different countries during winter and remarks on her experiences. It is not a self help book. It was difficult to get through and I was left irritated with the jumping timelines. Not as the title would suggest."

KM16 (1/5)

Accurate

"Haven't finished the book yet, but its been super helpful so far in helping me to reframe my thinking"

Kiera (4/5)

Cozy vibe but it lacks substance.

"There's nothing earth shattering in this - but it does feel cozy. I would read this more for the vibes and theme than for actual practical tips you can incorporate into your own life."

Avid R. (3/5)

Wintering

"I loved this book! It is like receiving a warm, giant hug. Highly recommend!"
