The serenity of a disturbed family’s holiday reunion shattered.

"Another excellent murder mystery created by the mind of Louise Penny. The characters are always a compilation of human flaws and virtues seeking what they themselves view as justifiable revenge but the rest of us see as senseless murder. And Inspector Gamache in his gentle but intelligent forthright way puzzles through the tangled family dynamics and personalities surrounding them to discern the suspects. Enjoy the beauty of Quebec through the guests eyes and Ms Penny’s mind."

Must read for fans of Gamache!

"If you've read some of Louise Penny's recent novels, but not this one, do go back and read it. I'm not sure why I didn't read this Gamache when it came out, but I am glad I stumbled across it, both in terms of filling in some of the blanks of his psychological makeup, as well as her beautiful prose when describing the scenery and hotel."
