Panchanga refers to the hindu calendar and literally starts for "Panch" "Anga" or five parts. As such Panchanga astrology method has five parts – Yoga, Karana, Tithi (Date), Vaar (Day) and Nakshatra. There are many astrologers who just use the Panchanga, but we recommend using the Panchanga as one of the confirmation methods in astrology. My advice would be to refer to the Panchanga system and then confirm any deductions using Parashari method from the main chart looking at placement of planets, state of houses and nth house lords. I am underlining this because this is important: don't use Panchanga alone, though it can often give great results.
As such, while we may refer to certain items as being definite in the book – for example, Shakuni karana natives can be extraordinarily cunning and opportunistic but these tendencies may subside/ reduce if there are benefits associated with lagna or lagnesh. Even so, the Panchanga method is a ready reckoner to get quick early data.
Secondly, aside from quick deduction, we use Panchanga – especially the energy of Tithi and Vaar to help the native feel good. So any mental anxieties, stresses – we will give remedy of Tithi and Vaar. However, we use Yogas and Karanas for material benefits – to help the native with his or her material pursuits and thus, we can mix remedies for Yogas and Karanas with main chart remedies for material gains. Karana also represents the physical body and remedies for Karana can benefit the physical body of the native as well. Please refer the previous book for the information on Yogas – this book focuses on Karanas.
