This book had me until the very end!

"A year after his wife mysteriously disappears, author Grady Green travels to a remote island in hopes of re-sparking his creativity and writing his next novel. Except he thinks he’s seeing his wife everywhere, he’s encountering odd things on the island, and things keep disappearing from his house. Is he going crazy, or is there something else at play here? This was my first Alice Feeney book and I ate it up in 24 hours! The twists took me by surprise and I truly didn’t see them coming! This book left me with the best kind of ‘what the heck just happened’ feeling. I loved the unreliable narrator aspect of the storytelling, and the addition of some other povs throughout. If you love a good thriller that will keep you on your toes, this one is for you!"

Ugly Never Looked So Beautiful

"SO GOOD ! Beautiful Ugly is one of the most addictive thrillers I have ever read. The writing is sharp and engaging, and every chapter kept me second guessing what was really happening. Unlike other thrillers that slow down between twists, this one was impossible to put down. Alice Feeney delivered a clever, haunting story that left me completely stunned by the ending."

Unique experience

"This was my first Alice Feeney book. I was really surprised by this book it had a very unique story and part way through I wasn’t sure if it was supernatural thriller or regular creepy people thriller. Very enjoyable and great for summer fall time."

Beautiful ugly

"Loved reading this book. The author kept me turning pages and I couldn’t put it down. And when I was done reading it, I was sad it was over."

Could be better. . . could be worse.

"The book cover, paper quality and font are nice. The plot itself is a bit weak and circular with one too many twists for my liking. There were a few parts I enjoyed and it is easy reading."

A haunting and lyrical psychological thrillerK

"⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beautiful Ugly was my long-overdue introduction to Alice Feeney—and what an introduction it was. Grady Green, a once-celebrated author, is drowning in grief and guilt after the disappearance of his wife, Abby. A year has passed, and still, there are no answers—only the haunting echo of their final phone call. When his literary agent offers him a three-month writing escape on a remote Scottish island, it feels like a last-ditch chance at reclaiming himself. But Amberley is no sanctuary. It’s isolating, eerie, and full of secrets. Feeney’s writing is both sharp and poetic, balancing emotional depth with gripping suspense. The fictional island is brought to life with chilling clarity: towering trees, quiet whispers, cliffs veiled in mist. As Grady begins to unravel, so too does the story—and it’s impossible to look away. Each twist is expertly delivered, peeling back the layers with devastating precision. The audiobook, narrated by Richard Armitage and Tuppence Middleton, was nothing short of a masterpiece. The production, and their performances added haunting nuance and tension, elevating the experience entirely. It’s the kind of production that lingers long after you’ve finished listening. This novel isn’t just a thriller—it’s a slow-burning descent into grief, obsession, and the darkest corners of love and lies. Beautifully written and brilliantly executed, Beautiful Ugly kept me guessing, uneasy, and utterly transfixed. Alice Feeney has more than earned her title as queen of the twist, and this novel proves why. Highly recommended for fans of atmospheric thrillers, psychological tension, and stories that unearth beauty in the ugliest of truths."

Still thinking about the ending!

"This was the first book from this author that I have read. I was expecting this to be a book that I couldn’t put down but it dragged out in places. The setting was intriguing and made me want to take a trip to this fictitious island. The ending was not what I expected at all."
