Excerpt from Catalogue of Works of Sterling Artistic Merit by the Modern Dutch Masters Belonging to Mrs. Anna N. Kendall, La Moille, Illinois: To Be Sold at Unrestricted Public Sale on Friday Evening, April 19 at the American Art Galleries Madison Square South
The almost life - sized head of a small Dutch child, in full profile to the left. A White linen cap, tied under neath the chin by a narrow tape, confines the flaxen hair close to the small, round head, and the shoulders are covered by a White frilled jacket. The wide-open blue eyes and slightly parted lips give an air of baby-like surprise to a face Whose ruddy cheeks betoken the rude health of the peasant child.
