“Ozawa’s translation gracefully captures the author’s whimsical and tender voice. Yagisawa has the right touch for lifting a reader’s mood.” - Publishers Weekly
"The unadorned simplicity of Takako's voice is anything but subtle, but it's somehow winning in its guilelessness . . . . Days at the Morisaki Bookshop draws a strong connection between the empathy unleashed by great literature and Takako's growing sense of self-confidence and well-being." - NPR
"The book’s vibe makes it pleasant company for an afternoon in the park with a snack." - Los Angeles Times
"Yagisawa’s prose is clean and direct even as he describes the Morisaki Bookshop and the city that surrounds it with extraordinary care and detail. The characters are also compelling, but it is really the setting and the atmosphere that stand out in this novel. Readers will want to linger in this world. They will want more when this concise tale ends." - Booklist
"Ozawa's translation preserves the drollness and buoyancy of Takako’s first-person narrative of small pleasures and mysteries. A familiar romance about books and bookstores, told with heart and humor." - Kirkus Reviews
"A slender book, but one rich in experience, exactly like the tiny, crammed Morisaki bookshop itself." - New York Journal of Books
"Thought-provoking, sincere, and honest." - The Uncorked Librarian
"Steeped in the ambience of a used bookstore as it is in the culture of reading." - Yahoo News

Interesting Characters

"This book was a quick, fulfilling read that satisfied my inner book lover. The characters are all excellently portrayed, and the way they all circle around the bookshop creates a cozy yet refreshingly real world that you get sucked into."

Title does 100% just to the book as storyline circles around the “morisaki bookstore”. By reading the title it gives away a zest of what it is going to be about

"It is a very easy read if you are just starting to inculcate the hobby/habit. Very simple set up for the storyline yet thought provoking and sublime."

Dhvani P. (4/5)

Light Read

"A light read but thoroughly enjoyable. Think summer casual weekend when you want something quick and easy to read ."

Review <3

"It's a short yet deeply heartfelt story about a young woman's journey in life. Although she went through hardships, with the help of her uncle, she was able to find happiness again."

"First time reading it was like love at first sight!!!!"

Days at the Morisaki Bookshop Review

"Picked this little book up because I was fascinated by the cover only to be immersed with the story that lies inside! A very gentle read that takes you away from the business of everyday life and transports you to the calm streets of a vintage bookstore neighborhood in Tokyo! The conflicts that the main character deals with are also very relatable for those in their early adulthood trying to figure out what to do with life."

Angie (5/5)

A Cozy Read

"This book is a cozy read and is simple and easy to read. I didn’t mind the book but there is not a lot of substance to it. I think the book would be better aimed at a teenage audience. #indigo employee"

"I thoroughly enjoyed this book; perfect for reading while curled up with a cup of tea."

Susan (5/5)

Quick & cozy read

"The definition of a cozy, easy read. I loved the character development and storytelling. It felt natural to transplant yourself into the book as it was incredibly relatable - I feel like everyone can see themselves in the main character at some point along their life journey. #IndigoEmployee"

Cheering for Takano.

"Love lost and a passion gained, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop explores familiar experiences interwoven with a tight knit community of unique individuals who share an interest in Japanese literature. This and the sequel, More Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, are easily digestible and rewarding."
