Bharat Singh,PhD, FBS, is working as Professor in the Amity Institute of Biotechnology, Amity University Rajasthan, Jaipur. His doctoral research was with Professor S. C. Jain and dealt with isolation and characterization of secondary metabolites as well as their pharmacological investigations from medicinal plants. He did his postdoctoral work at the Department of Botany, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India. His research at the Department dealt with the investigation of pharmacological potentials fromStrobilanthes callosus. His current research focuses on ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry, plant cell culture engineering and biotization strategies to increase the production of bioactive secondary metabolites in plants. By using plant cell culture engineering, the author has increased the production of secondary metabolites 5-8-fold higher than intact plants.

He has more than 20 years of teaching and research experience. He has been teaching the courses of Phytochemistry, Plant Cell Culture Engineering, Plant Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, and Agricultural Biotechnology since last two decades. He regularly gives presentations to the faculty and graduate students on ways to improve the quality and efficiency of teaching. Similarly, more than 50 research papers have been published by him in different National and International Journals of repute. The author has presented more than 20 papers in various National and International Conferences. A total of six books of Phytochemistry and Biotechnology have been published in his credit and has guided several students for their PhD and Postgraduate degrees.
