Love the Cursebreakers series!

"I first bought A Curse so Dark and Lonely during the pandemic and have been hooked ever since! I absolutely love this series from Kemmerer and was super excited to find out that Forging Silver into Stars was the continuation. It's longer than all the other books and I quickly skimmed to see the characters in each chapter and at first, I was sad to see that Grey, Rhen, etc. , didn't have chapters/thought they weren't in the book - but I was wrong! Our favorite characters DO return, including Tycho! Don't want to give too much away, but if you're looking for an addictive/fun fantasy read, do look to purchase this; you won't be disappointed :)"

Exceptional

"If I could give this book ten stars, I would. Absolutely one of my favourite books of 2022 and a lesson in crafting excellent tension and stakes. Not only is FORGING SILVER INTO STARS an exciting book, but it is also technically enthralling and a testament to the craft. I quite simply loved it. While the story is set in the CURSEBREAKERS universe and has familiar faces, it mostly follows new characters. Tycho, Jax, and Callyn are all easy to relate to, complex, and diverse in their mannerisms. They each have different relationships with one another, some leading to tension and some leading to excitement. Normally I would add what I love about each character, but I honestly just want to say that each of these protagonists is fantastic. Nothing is simple, they each have their own struggles, and they are each so good that one can't help but love them. Where this book really shone was the stakes and emotional turmoil. There is tension and drama with each character as they confront both physical and emotional threats. They grow and learn more about themselves and those around them, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. It is truly a master craft in creating easy-to-love characters and putting them in terrifying situations. This is what tension and stakes are all about. Not to mention the twists. There were some unexpected ones in here, and it was always thrilling to learn that what one character knew, another might not know. Secrets were everywhere, and there were heavy costs to keeping and telling them. And the romance? Amazing. Very sweet, a little spicy, and just what I would hope for in the series. It's about healing and discovering oneself, with love as the catalyst. I adored this book. It was everything I look for in a fantasy and I am highly anticipating the sequel. I have serious respect for Brigid Kemmerer for creating such an enthralling story with rich characters and enticing drama. Highly recommended for all fantasy lovers!"

Back to the CurseBreakers Series!

"Thank you so much, Raincoast and Bloomsbury YA, for allowing me to read and review this e-arc. Brigid Kemmerer is an automatic auto-buy author for me. I've read most of her fantasy YA books (from the Cursebreaker Trilogy to Defy the Night). There was no doubt that the next Kemmerer book that I would pick up would be Forging Silver into Stars. Tycho was one of my favorite side characters from the original trilogy. I'm so happy that we get a new series that is told from Tycho's point of view. The plot and setting of this book take place four years after the events of the Cursebreaker Trilogy. The author has stated on Goodreads that it's ok to skip the original series and start right here. However, I would recommend starting with the original trilogy. I feel readers will miss out on so much backstory if they skip the original three books. This book acts as if readers already know the backstory. Also, while this story showcases a new plot. . . the plot is connected to conflicts from the original series. This novel is fast-paced for a 500+ page book. I felt glued to my seat for the first and last half of the book. I did find the middle half to drag a little bit. This book, I think, is building up for the second and third books. This book is getting readers introduced to the new characters, their alliances, and their romances. The plot surrounding the anti-magic faction fell short for me in this book. I wasn't a big fan of book 2 of the Cursebreaker Trilogy. However, it was a necessary novel for book 3 to be written. I feel the same for Forging Silver into Stars. It probably isn't going to be my favorite in the new trilogy. However, it is necessary for the events of books two and three. I like that this story is from multiple points of view. The story is told mainly from Jax's, Tycho's, and Callyn's points of view. My favorite chapters were told from Tycho's and Callyn's points of view. However, like in previous Kemmerer books, it is easy to fall in love with these characters. It is also impossible not to fall in love with the new side characters. Kemmerer also does a great job at bringing back/showcasing the original CurseBreaker characters (Rhen, Grey, Harper, Lia Mara, etc. ). We got plenty of time with Rhen and Grey in this book. I'm hoping, we see more of Harper in the next book. Readers will get to follow two new romances in this book. One is a slow burn and the other kind of plays on the enemies to lovers trope. I won't lie. . . I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers. I'm curious to see how that relationship will play out in book two. The slow-burn romance was okay. . . but I wanted more. Also, I love that Kemmerer included these three or four chapters that were strictly back-and-forth romance scenes between these two romance plotlines. Overall, I'm curious to see how this series will further play out in future books. If you loved the original series, then you'll be happy to see the original characters in this novel. If you loved Tycho in the original series, then you'll be excited to follow his and his new friends' storyline in Forging Silver into Stars. Kemmerer does a great job building a fantasy world with loveable characters and swoon-worthy romance. If you're a fan of slow-burn or enemies to lovers, then check out this book."
