Good summer read but not my favourite Annabel Monaghan

"I have loved every Annabel Monaghan book I’ve read, so I was very excited for this one. Unfortunately it didn’t quite resonate with me. I had a hard time connecting to Jane the FMC. Having said that, the story was interesting. She’s a former child star who is trying to get a movie made. Dan, who Jane really dislikes is the cinematographer on the project. In order to get the movie made, she must try to get a popular singer to write the song for the movie. Dan takes her to his hometown to help her achieve this goal. The interaction between the characters is good and I loved Dan’s family. However, I really struggled with the third act breakup, which really felt silly for a character in her thirties. It really didn’t work for me. Change the FMC a bit and I would have loved this book. I know many of you will like this one, so I still recommend it as a summer read."

Enemies to lovers romcom

"Cute story, I always enjoy Annabel’s summer romcoms! I really enjoyed the enemies to lovers story line as Jane is a movie producer working with Dan who’s her arch nemesis as he rejected a previous script of hers. He takes Jane to his hometown to get a pop star to sing the soundtrack for the movie but ends up spending the trip with all 20 members of his family."

It’s a Love Story

"This was my first book from this author and it didn’t disappoint! It was so cute and sweet. Really quick summer read!"

Iwona (5/5)

Amusing, tender, and sweet!

"It’s a Love Story is a charming, uplifting tale that takes you into the lives of two main characters. Jane Jackson, a former child actor turned studio executive struggling to get her first movie made, and Dan Finnegan, a cinematographer with a big family who may seem from afar to be a little arrogant but who actually has a huge heart of gold. The writing is touching and light. The characters are charismatic, genuine, and endearing. And the plot is an engaging mix of heart, humour, friendship, attraction, chemistry, relationship drama, heartfelt moments, romance, and movie-making. Overall, It’s a Love Story is another heartwarming, witty, delightful tale by Monaghan that has all the elements I’ve come to know and enjoy in her novels, including a fierce heroine, an attentive alpha male, and a swoony storyline."
