"Kathryn Warner has once again illuminated the life of a famous Plantagenet figure through genealogical and financial records. . . . If you want to learn more about the founding of the Lancastrian dynasty and the rise of the Beauforts through John of Gaunt, I would recommend you read John of Gaunt: Son of One King, Father to Another. " —Adventures of a Tudor Nerd

Kathryn Warner shines a light on the less well known story of this medieval legend, with a wealth of well-researched background that provides a useful context for understanding John of Gaunt's complex life.', The Writing Desk, 19 June 2023

This detailed biography - which, fittingly, begins with a cast list from half a dozen nations - profiles Gaunt, his dramatic exploits and relationships with those closest to him, from his royal origins to his long-term relationship with Katherine Swynford.', BBC History Revealed Magazine, February 2022
