"The scones did not turn out well, nothing like the store. And baked at such a low temperature 325. Highly unusual with no explanation. The jams have very specific varieties in the jam recipes without any suggestions offers for acceptable substitutions. Some ingredients I’ve never heard of. Would be impossible to source many of the ingredients in a small market."

"Not only is the book beautiful but also very well written and the recipes are truly amazing. The recipes are easy to follow, very manageable and actually useful. I already made 3 jams from the book which taste great and baked the scones multiple times, and omg THESE SCONES!!! I am exited to work my way through all the recipes. If you love home made things, preserves, baking or just supporting local - this book is for you!"

Best jam ever!

"I hope to be able to visit their actual shop one day, perhaps if I ever venture to Ontario again I’ll make a point of it. Made their Strawberry, Raspberry, and Cream jam the other weekend with local berries - it is amazing! Trying their recipe for Blueberry Crumble Scones this weekend, can’t wait to see how delicious they are. You have to buy this book, so many recipes beyond jam and scones. But buy it just for them anyway!"

"I bought this book yesterday and it has some amazing contents. It has amazing jam and scone recipes in it that are phenomenal. I previously made the buttermilk scones and they were amazingly good. I highly recommend this cookbook."

SOPHIE KAFTAL is a wife, mother, and jam fairy, spending her days slinging scones at the Kitten and the Bear shop. After graduating McGill University and culinary school, she started her career cooking in fine-dining kitchens before co-founding Kitten and the Bear with her husband, Bobby Zielinski. Sophie is happiest when snow is falling, dreaming of her next creative endeavour. BOBBY ZIELINSKI is a doting father, husband, and man of many talents, most often found stirring big pots of bubbling fruit and tending to carpentry projects in the Kitten and the Bear shop. He dabbled in several creative pursuits before co-founding Kitten and the Bear and learning preserve making from his wife, Sophie. He is now head jam maker, with goals of country living and home-grown fruit.
