Dr. Stanislav Grof began his research into the psychotherapeutic uses of LSD in 1960 at the Psychiatric Research Institute in Prague, Czechoslovakia. More than thirty years of work in this field make him eminently qualified to write this book. He is the founding president of the International Transpersonal Association, and has taught and lectured in academic and workshop settings worldwide. Dr. Grof is the author of numerous other books, the latest of which is Psychology of the Future: Lessons from Modern Consciousness Research. Visit Stanislav Grof's website to learn more about his techniques and latest work. Albert Hofmann (January 11, 1906-April 29, 2008) was a Swiss scientist known best for being the first person to synthesize, ingest and learn of the psychedelic effects of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). He authored more than 100 scientific articles and a number of books, including LSD: My Problem Child. He was named #1 out of 100 in Telegraph magazine's 2007 'Top 100 Living Geniuses' list.

“[Grof's work] is the most important contribution to personality theory in several decades.” Abraham Maslow, founder of Humanistic Psychology

“If I am the father of LSD, Stan Grof is the godfather. Nobody has contributed as much as Stan for the development of my problem child.” Dr. Albert Hofmann, research chemist and author of LSD: My Problem Child

“I know of no work that so well incorporates the findings of Freud, Jung and Rank, adding fresh insights, which the methods of those psychotherapists could never have achieved. I do not doubt that many others working in this field would find Dr. Grof's discoveries a basis for a whole new strategy of research.” Jean Houston, PhD, The Foundation for Mind Research
