Amy is visiting her grandparents and gets the chance to learn more about Rubumps. They have a lot of adventures and share their inventions with the readers. Amy first heard about Rubumps when she interviewed the fairies and became a near-fairy for a little while. Jerald is the Rubump's name in this stories and he is sort of a scientist/invertor for his village. The adventures start just after he takes Amy into his realm.
