LARGE PRINT EDITION (14 pt font). In a series of four books, Andrés Capilla sprinkles the waters of salvation as if he had drawn it from the purest of springs, in order to quench our thirst, and to soak our hearts and minds. With pithy observations and insights, he encourages us to meditate on the Gospel readings for each Mass. He trumpets the clarion call to renounce vices and assume virtues, come what may, entrusting ourselves to divine Providence and the mercy of Jesus Christ, and relying on the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, and the assistance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, as well as all the Saints and Angels of Heaven. The original Spanish Libros de la Oración first appeared between 1572 and 1578, and were translated into various languages during and after the author´s lifetime, garnering praises from notable writers, including St. Francis de Sales. This is the first English translation. The series consists of: Vol. 1Meditations on the Gospel for every Sunday and major Feasts of the year. Vol 2.Meditations on the Gospel for every day of Lent. Vol. 3Meditations on the Gospel for the major Feasts of the Saints. Vol. 4Manual for meditations and spiritual exercises, with A Letter from Christ our Lord to a Devout Soul, by Johannes Landsperger, included in the Spanish first edition of volume 2.
