“You could call [Pierce] Brown science fiction’s best-kept secret. In Morning Star, the trilogy’s devastating and inspiring final chapter, . . . he flirts with volume, oscillating between thundering space escapes and hushed, tense parleys between rivals, where the cinematic dialogue oozes such specificity and suspense you could almost hear a pin drop between pages. His achievement is in creating an uncomfortably familiar world of flaw, fear, and promise.”Entertainment Weekly

“There is no one writing today who does shameless, Michael Bay–style action set pieces the way Brown does. The battle scenes are kinetic, bloody, breathless, crazy. Everything is on fire all the time.”—NPR

Morning Star is this trilogy’s Return of the Jedi. . . . The impactful battles that make up most of Morning Star are damn near operatic. . . . It absolutely satisfies.”Tordotcom

“Excellent . . . Brown’s vivid, first-person prose puts the reader right at the forefront of impassioned speeches, broken families, and engaging battle scenes . . . as this interstellar civil war comes to a most satisfying conclusion.”Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“A page-turning epic filled with twists and turns . . . The conclusion to Brown’s saga is simply stellar.”Booklist (starred review)

“Multilayered and seething with characters who exist in a shadow world between history and myth, much as in Frank Herbert’s Dune . . . an ambitious and satisfying conclusion to a monumental saga.”Kirkus Reviews

Reviews

Great ending to the triology

"After reading the first two books I was really enthralled in this series- I found the second book to be a bit slower, however, this book grasped my attention more and kept me intrigued all the way until the end. Would highly recommend this book and the remainder of the series to anyone interested in The Hunger Games, 1984, Greek Mythology, and The Expanse type vibes all thrown together into one."

Everything and More!

"The ending blew my socks off!!!!!!! So much happens in this series from the first book to this third book, and to get all the details right, conclude all the characters story arcs, and wrap it up in an entertaining, clever, and sensible way was the cherry on top for me. When I read books like this that have so much complexity to the plot, the characters, and the deeper message of the story it blows my mind that someone is smart enough to create this. Sometimes sci-fi is hard for me to picture because of all the made up technology, but my advice is to not get caught up in those detalls as this plot is so so good. Can't say enough good things about this series and this last book."

Favourite of the trilogy

"My favourite of the trilogy. I thought it was just as good as golden son and the ending was satisfying."

Kayla (5/5)

A fitting conclusion

"Fantastic conclusion to a solid sci-fantasy trilogy. Battles galore, political manoeuvring, heartbreak and some. . happiness? My main gripes with this series are that it never truly relents with it's action/a lot of it reads the same and a lot of the dialogue is quite childish. Overall it's absolutely worth the read for any sci-fi or fantasy fan."

Caeleb (4/5)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
