Murdena Marshall is a mother of six, grandmother of fourteen, great-grandmother of five and godmother of eight. She is the Clan Mother of the Muin Clan. She says, “I have two loves in the world. First and foremost is my language and second is my relationship with God.”
Diana Denny is a mother of two, grandmother of five, great-grandmother of one and godmother of six. Diana graduated from high school when she was forty-three. She says she was educated late in life as she left school early because she knew everything! She is a member of the Bear Clan.
Susie Marshall is a mother of twelve, grandmother of sixty, great-grandmother of twenty-four and godmother of eleven. Susie is a hunter and an excellent craftswoman, making baskets that sell far and wide. She is a member of the Lobster Clan.
Flo Young is a mother of fourteen, grandmother of fifty-eight, great-grandmother of fifty-six and godmother of three. She is a hunter, a trapper and a medicine woman with a keen interest in all around her.
Prune Harris is a mother of two, originally from Cornwall in England but now living in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She is a member of the Integrative Science team at Cape Breton University, directed by Dr. Cheryl Bartlett.
Cheryl Bartlett pours her mother-love into countless students as a Professor at Cape Breton University. She most cherishes being in nature camping with friends, family and her three dogs.
Gerald Gloade is from the Mi’kmaw Nation of Millbrook. Father of two children, he is widely acclaimed for his skills as an artist, as well as his passion for placing Mi’kmaw legends within the geographical landscape of Mi’kma’ki.
