Ride for no banner. Kill for no king. Seek no prize.
For a century, the Black Riders have held the line against the darkness, bound by the oath of the First Five. But in the remote town of Fallowcrest, the line is breaking.
A mysterious malaise known as "The Husk" is turning townsfolk into hollow shells, and the King's scribe is covering it up. When Commander Thayne Balour and his squad of Black Riders arrive to purge the rot, they find something far worse than a plague. They find a Reaping in progress.
Outnumbered and outmaneuvered, the Riders must look to the past for answers and weapons. Their journey will take them from the poisoning fog of Fallowcrest to the frozen, forbidden archives in the Frostfang mountains as they chase the shadow of a war that supposedly ended a thousand years ago.
But the mountains hold ghosts of their own and as the shadows around them lengthen, the Riders must learn the hardest lesson of all:
Stone cracks. Iron rusts. Only the ash remains.
