Reviews

Makes sense.

"Secret Daughter is a beautifully written and emotionally moving exploration of family, adoption, identity, and the complexities of belonging. Shilpi Somaya Gowda brings together two powerful narratives, the American-born daughter raised by Indian parents and the birth mother in India, and examines the power of secrets, the meaning of motherhood, and how our pasts shape who we become. It’s a novel about finding one’s place in the world, grappling with loss and longing, and the desire to make sense of our personal stories. If you’re a fan of emotional family dramas, multicultural narratives, and stories that delve into identity and relationships, Secret Daughter will resonate with you. It’s a thoughtful and moving read, though it may require some patience in the pacing, especially if you're looking for something with quicker action. The emotional and intellectual rewards, however, are definitely worth the read. I loved it."

Brilliant

"I could not put this book down once I started reading it took only four days to finish. The two storylines was very well written I did get emotional at the end. I would recommend this book to everyone to read and look forward to reading more of Shilpi Somaya Gowda novels."

Basket (5/5)

Well Written

"After reading Gowda's A Great Country I wanted to read another book by the same author. This is a well written, character driven book. The characters are described in detail with the back story for each. Their evolution is carefully crafted to feel realistic for the most part. One thought came to mind at the ending but I don't want to give any of the story away. That thought is still with me a few days after completing the book and I wish the question could be asked of the author. While she does address the ending in a Q&A with her at the back of the book, I am still left with my questsion. I understand a movie based on the book is in the works"
