Beautiful illustrated story

"Beautiful book. I got it as a gift but ended up borrowing it to look through it myself. The story is fully illustrated and it's just a very beautiful journey to go through."

Neesa (5/5)

Wonderful!

"A beautiful story about the immigrant experience. The artwork is stunning! The story is told without any words but none are needed. I think this would be wonderful to ""read"" with children 7+ years old and to discuss the emotions depicted etc."

Clem (4/5)

Wow!

"Wow! What an absolutely stunning book. There are no words, but it is so beautiful and powerful. This graphic novel is incredible and captures the immigrant experience. Wow!"

A must for those who appreciate beautiful illustrations

"This is a story with a powerful message and lots of emotion, told solely through visuals. The illustrations are so carefully created and beyond beautiful. This book would make a beautiful gift for someone who loves detail rich artwork. I love the creative little touch of the origami bird hidden throughout the story."

DeeDee (5/5)

An extremely warm hearted empathic piece of art.

"I saw for the first time (2011) The arrival at one of my friend's house during my first trip to Canada. I was still living in Mexico by then and I would have never thought that, one day, my new immigrant heart would embrace this book with such love. I decided to move to Canada the year after and still, it is one of my favourite memories of this new chapter of my life. So vivid, so magic, and so relevant nowadays."

LeslyV (5/5)

Exquisite!

"Who says you need words to tell a great story? Beautiful, poignant and thought-provoking!"

Angie (5/5)

Amazing

"These illustrations are absolutely stunning. They look like real old photos. Whoever designed this book did an amazing job. I feel like the topic is more relevant than ever even with the book being over 10 years old. It really only takes a few minutes to look through and I feel like words would've taken away from the story. We all have heard the immigrant story but seeing it is not something everyone has the chance to do"

Samantha (5/5)

The Arrival

"The combination of pictures and words make for a heart tugging book."

Linda (4/5)

beautiful

"beautiful and touching surreal tale."

Lapache (5/5)

Louder than words

"A very impressive picture/graphic book. S. Tan again demonstrates great imagination and talent as well as an ability to treat important issues in a truly memorable way. His images speak better than words and they stay with you for a long time."
